In this field-based role you will be responsible for driving growth of our oncology product portfolio across Spain and Portugal, partnering with both clinical and research accounts as well as channel partners.</p><p>You will serve as a trusted advisor and technical product expert, guiding customers through complex solutions in molecular diagnostics, translational research, and clinical oncology. Working in close collaboration with Account Managers, channel partners, and cross-functional colleagues, you will support strategic account development, influence key stakeholders, and accelerate adoption of Illumina’s cutting-edge oncology solutions.</p><p>This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer by empowering clinicians, researchers, and healthcare providers with the tools they need to advance precision medicine.</p><p><b>Location</b></p><p>This is a field-based position covering Spain and Portugal. Candidates must be based in Madrid or Barcelona. Travel is expected to be ~60% within the region, with occasional attendance at European events.</p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><p>As a Senior Oncology Sales Specialist, you will:</p><ul><li>Drive Market Growth: Achieve and exceed sales objectives for Illumina’s oncology portfolio by winning new accounts, expanding existing relationships, and positioning Illumina as the partner of choice.</li><li>Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a territory business plan with clear objectives.</li><li>Customer Engagement: Build strong relationships with oncologists, molecular pathologists, laboratory directors, and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to promote Illumina’s oncology solutions.</li><li>Sales Collaboration: Partner with Account Managers and Channel Partners to identify opportunities, qualify leads, and close sales.</li><li>Technical Expertise: Present complex oncology workflows (NGS, liquid biopsy, companion diagnostics, biomarkers, etc.) with confidence to both clinical and research audiences.</li><li>Training & Enablement: Educate and support Account Managers, Sales Specialists, Channel Partners, and customers with resources, commercialization plans, and product updates. Deliver high-impact presentations at customer meetings, seminars, and symposia.</li><li>Pipeline Development: Build and manage a robust short-, medium-, and long-term pipeline of oncology opportunities. Provide regular and accurate sales forecasts using CRM tools.</li><li>Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead strategic projects in collaboration with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Patient Advocacy, Market Access, and Government Affairs to strengthen Illumina’s position in oncology.</li><li>Voice of Customer: Provide market insights and feedback to marketing and product management teams to influence roadmap decisions and enhance customer experience.</li><li>Brand Ambassador: Represent Illumina at oncology-focused congresses, tradeshows, and conferences across Iberia and Europe.</li></ul><p><b>Requirements</b></p><ul><li>Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Life Sciences, Medicine, or related discipline strongly preferred.</li><li>Experience:<ul><li>Proven track record in sales within the oncology field.</li><li>Demonstrated success in growing specific market segments and developing key accounts.</li><li>Strong understanding of oncology workflows, including molecular biology, genomics, and NGS.</li></ul></li><li>Skills:<ul><li>Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.</li><li>Ability to network at all organizational levels and establish strong relationships with KOLs.</li><li>Strategic, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for advancing oncology care.</li></ul></li><li>Languages: Fluency in Spanish and English required.</li><li>Travel: Willingness to travel ~60% across Spain and Portugal.</li></ul><p><b>Why Join Illumina?</b></p><p>At Illumina, our mission is to improve human health by
