About this position: Shop-Yard Assistant Location – Anchorage, AK

Wage/Salary Range: $25.00/hr.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Applicants will perform all types of general construction yard work as well as light mechanical tasks along with parts and material running. Some examples: loading trucks, washing equipment, picking up parts, dropping material off on jobsites, doing oil changes and other misc. mechanical tasks as directed.
Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
· Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Level of Experience Requirements: N/A
· 18 years of age or older.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
· Ability to work un-supervised and stay on task.
· Willingness and ability to learn how to operate a forklift and other yard equipment
· Ability to get along with other people - Team player.
Preferred
- Ability to identify basic mechanical issues and assist mechanics with routine service tasks (fluid checks, oil changes, greasing, filter replacement, etc.)
- Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, or other light equipment.
- Well versed in Low Voc, Waterborne, MMA and other traffic markings systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.
DOT Covered/Safety-Sensitive Role Requirements
· This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

· Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent walking with/next to equipment while working.
· Must be physically able to be on your feet, standing, walking, and working on hard concrete and tire floors for full shifts.
· Must be able to lift and carry 50# repeatedly, safely, and without unusual strain.
