The Equipment Engineering Team at Raytheon’s Optics Consolidated Manufacturing Center (Optics CMC) drives Raytheon Technologies’ competitiveness in optical components, assemblies, and systems now and in the future. We are responsible for performing all equipment innovation, selection, troubleshooting and maintenance to lead the organization in delivering a quality product on time, at or below cost, in a safe environment.  Our team has an onsite opportunity within the Operations R&M (Repair& Maintenance) Team for a Technical Support Associate in Richardson, TX (no relocation offered).

We do this by:

  • Collaborating with Engineering, Program Management, Operations, & Quality business leadership and all Optics CMC functions and proactively addressing equipment needs to meet current and future business needs.
  • Enabling the factory to execute these needs on time and at or below cost in a safe environment by
  • Creating innovative solutions for improving equipment uptime and process times, including the design and creation of custom hardware and software as needed.
  • Working with facilities and engineering teams to lead installations of new equipment and upgrades of existing equipment. 
  • Modeling Raytheon values, customer focus, solution oriented, excellence in execution and a sense of urgency and encouraging the same within the rest of the organization.

You will be directly involved in proactively addressing equipment needs of the factory by working with engineering and maintenance teams to successfully perform daily operations and maintenance activities. This includes maintenance of equipment, machinery, and other functions specific to optics manufacturing.  You are responsible for complying with health and safety standards in the community and adhering to OSHA and other federal guidelines.  The individual will report to the Manager of Operations R&M (Repair & Maintenance).

What You Will Do:

  • Test, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, computer, laboratory, and scientific systems and/or equipment.
  • Maintain the equipment and resources across four factories in one location: Optical Fabrication, Diamond Point Turning, Optical Coating and Assembly/Test.
  • Collaborate and work alongside a team of experienced equipment technicians to identify equipment, machinery, and other functions specific items that through normal production are in need of calibration or preventative maintenance activities.
  • Utilize various engineering and scientific drawings, manuals, and other related documentation in the performance of your tasks.
  • Upgrade and modify production equipment
  • Procure and install new capital equipment.
  • Participate in factory equipment layouts.
  • Maintain equipment documentation pertaining to Preventive Maintenance / Lockout - Tagout Procedures / Equipment inventories.
  • Flexibility to work 2nd and/or 3rd shifts when/if needed.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional relevant experience is described as electromechanical equipment maintenance, installation and/or repair in a production or factory environment.
  • Experience with repair and maintenance of automated / manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience working from schematics, drawings, written procedures, and/or other documentation.
  • Experience with factory hand tools (e.g. multimeters, current probes, calipers, and various test and/or measurement instruments).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Ability to solve complex technical equipment problems and strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven history of demonstrating initiative, persistence, and creativity in problem solving
