In this role, you will help design, build, and optimize the custom equipment powering our high-volume Iron-Air battery production.
Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will support the entire equipment lifecycle—from initial CAD schematics to on-site deployment and continuous improvement at Form Factory 1.
Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:
System Design: Develop electrical schematics and select instrumentation for industrial control systems, integrating components with PLCs, Robotics, and SCADA.
Project Execution: Support internal projects and vendor-led builds, participating in Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT) to ensure compliance with Form Energy standards.
Operational Support: Provide hands-on troubleshooting for electrical and instrumentation issues escalated from production, focusing on downtime reduction and throughput optimization.
Collaboration: Partner with maintenance, operators, and vendors to refine equipment designs and implement safety-driven hardware modifications.
Compliance: Maintain rigorous documentation and ensure all designs adhere to Safety and Environmental policies.
What you'll bring:
Experience: 2+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics Engineering (or 10+ years of equivalent hands-on experience in automation/electromechanical systems).
Design Tools: Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and/or SolidWorks Design for creating and modifying control system schematics.
Technical Literacy: Ability to independently read, redline, and interpret complex electrical diagrams and blueprints.
Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on repairing control components and recording technical data.
Operational Readiness: Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including participation in a rotating on-call schedule for off-hour escalations.
Preferred Skills: Experience with control panel fabrication and instrumentation selection in a manufacturing setting.
Where you'll work:
This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV—an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing. Relocation assistance is available.
