Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a Mid-Level or Senior 737 Flight Deck and Avionics Customer Configuration Engineer (737 Flight Deck and Avionics Configurator) to support the Flight Deck and Customer Engineering Teams based out of Renton, WA.
As a 737 Flight Deck and Avionics Configurator, you will be responsible for developing the Flight Deck, Avionics, and Systems configuration for 737 MAX airplanes as defined by customer selections, and regulatory driven requirements. You will work with customer engineering and sales to develop the configuration strategy, and will leverage your knowledge of the 737, airplane systems, and flight operations to ensure the configured flight deck meets the technical needs of the customer.
The successful candidate will meet with Boeing airline customers around the world to understand the unique needs of each customer, and will advocate within Boeing to develop feature and option strategies. An ability to speak to technical details while also providing context and seeing the big picture is essential to meeting the needs of this fast-paced position. The configurator will regularly meet with and present to airline executive leaders in engineering and flight operations, and will invest in developing relationships with these key stakeholders. A passion for aviation, and finding creative ways to support our global customer base will help ensure success in this position.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develops option packages for 737 Flight Deck, avionics, and airplane systems to meet customer configuration milestones
- Creates and presents technical presentations to customer airlines
- Builds relationship with flight deck and customer engineering teams
- Ensures technical compatibility across option selections
- Responds to inquires from customer airlines in a timely manner
- Integrates across teams to ensure the technical aspects of the flight deck are understood
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- ABET accredited engineering degree
- 3+ years of experience in Boeing Commercial Airplanes
- 2+ years of experience with avionics, flight deck, or airplane systems
- Willing to travel internationally 25% of the time
- An ability to synthesize information to internal and external executive leadership
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Private Pilot
- Customer facing experience
- 2+ years of experience supporting the 737 program
Typical Education & Experience:
Mid-Level: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Senior: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
