Purpose

Seeking a student worker to support event planning and daily office operations for the CNS Undergraduate Education team. This flexible, 10-15 hr/wk position offers hands-on experience in event coordination, project management, and administrative tasks in a creative, fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates are detailed oriented, organized, interested in long-term employment and willing to assist during peak event weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Event Planning & Execution- assist with event logistics and planning, purchasing, promotion, setup and teardown, working closely with the event coordinator and team.
  • Data & Analysis- update databases, collect event data, and create detailed analysis reports for post-event debrief meetings
  • Administrative Support- manage office communications, maintain event documents, and support general office operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a UT Student
  • Austin based with ability to work on campus in office
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and Canva
  • Self-motivated with ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently
  • Well organized and process oriented, attention to detail a must
  • A “can do” attitude and desire to learn
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required by event schedules
  • Ability to lift and transport event materials (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in event planning or project management, and/or hospitality employment experience
  • Analytical problem solving and ability to exercise discretion
  • Familiarity with the College of Natural Sciences
  • Professional manner

Salary Range

$11.00/ hour

Working Conditions

  • Work environment- standard office setting with occasional work indoor and outdoor event sites across campus
  • Schedule Flexibility- available for occasional early mornings, late evenings, or weekend hours during event weeks
  • Physical tasks- includes lifting and transporting event materials (up to 50 lbs), setting up tables or displays, and standing for extended periods during events
  • Technology use- frequent computer work including data entry, graphic design, and communication task with tools like Excel, Canva, and Outlook.

Work Shift

  • 10-15 hours/ week
