Description
The Tulane University School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time Open Rank faculty position in the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Medicine.
We seek an accomplished basic cancer researcher with a strong record of sponsored and non-sponsored funding and collaborative leadership. The successful candidate will direct translational research initiatives that drive discovery and innovation across the School of Medicine and foster partnerships with other Tulane schools, particularly in biomedical engineering. This position is ideal for an experienced scientist who excels at turning promising bench research into functional prototypes, novel investigative equipment, and tools that enhance cancer research.
Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating cross-disciplinary collaborations, especially with biomedical engineering
- Mentoring junior investigators and contributing to research career development
- Enhancing research infrastructure by assessing, streamlining, and developing shared resource cores
- Supporting Tulane’s efforts to align with NCI Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) guidelines and best practices
- Leading and sustaining a productive, extramurally funded cancer research program
Qualifications
Required:
- PhD in Physiology, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
Preferred:
- Experience in developing and implementing basic scientific research
- A record of peer-reviewed publications.
- A record of extramural research funding.

Experience in leadership roles at NCI-designated cancer centers is especially valued, as Tulane works to strengthen its cancer research infrastructure and prepare for future NCI designation opportunities.
