Chubb is seeking an Executive Underwriter for Private/Not-for-Profit (PNP) in its Chicago branch.


The Executive Underwriter will report to the Chicago PNP Financial Lines Manager and title is based on experience. The Underwriter will manage a PNP portfolio largely encompassing retail brokerages for the Chicago Branch. The position will primarily be focused on underwriting Private/Not-For-Profit business across small, commercial and major segments.  Lines of business include D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Crime, Kidnap Ransom, Employed Lawyers and Workplace Violence. 


The Executive Underwriter must develop book growth, maintain superior relationships, and implement effective and profitable pricing rate strategies. Underwriting will include marketing and servicing accounts based on Chubb guidelines.


They will be responsible for developing and implementing a business plan to grow all segments of the insurance book through prospect identification and pipeline development, new business production and account management in coordination with Major Accounts Segment Leaders, Business Development Managers and Client Executives. Underwriter will be responsible for $1M+ of new business annually and will lead an underwriting team of 2+ individuals.


The Underwriter will have accountability for the financial performance of this book of business, achieving growth for the branch and region. They will identify opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources, identify cross sell opportunities, conduct agency planning/goal setting including monitoring of progress and make regular broker and insured visits (based on business need). 
 

Ideally, 5-8+ years underwriting experience in management liability. 

Strong sales and marketing skills are critical. The ability to position accounts and close deals is a key requirement. 

Must be able to demonstrate success in marketing, producer/book management and new business development.  Must also have the ability to successfully negotiate on all levels with both internal and external partners and nurture key producer relations. 

High degree of proficiency with the underwriting process, risk analysis, and work effectively in collaboration with an Underwriting Associate. 

Must have exemplary ability to effectively interact with all levels of customers and coworkers. 

Knowledge and proficiency with underwriting technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, pricing & strategies expected.

Must be a collaborative partner with the Field, Home Office, Claims, General Counsel, Compliance, Marketing and Communications, Operations and Learning & Development to successfully execute underwriting strategy.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software required.  Effective desk management is a critical part of this role.

Leadership experience is preferred.
