Job Description:
Under limited supervision, the Master Social Worker’s primary work will be in determining participants in our Assisted Living Facilities who have severe mental illness are getting the services they require and are placed appropriately. They will also serve as a member on our interdisciplinary teams; providing clinical guidance to assisted living facility staff, Service Coordinators, and participants. Work is performed under the supervision of a Clinical Administrator, or Deputy Director. Performs related work as assigned.
Job Duties will include:
- Conduct on site visits to Assisted Living Facilities to provide behavioral health assistance and coordination for individuals with Severe Mental Illness who are not covered by the Aging & Disabled Waiver.
- Review cases of individuals who are Olmstead risks flagged by Aging & Disabled service coordinators already in Assisted Living Facilities.
- Document Assisted Living Facility’s engagement and willingness to participate in service coordination for Severe Mentality Ill individuals.
- Provider regular check-ins on problematic Assisted Living Facilities across the state.
- Provide specialized review of individuals under the age of 50 who are housed in Assisted Living Facilities.
- Care Coordination for individuals who are seeking alternative services.
- Actively participates in multi-disciplinary treatment planning, being knowledgeable of effective interventions and strategies for the assigned population as well as individuals.
- Support the Developmental Disabilities clinical team by:
- Assessing behavior functions utilizing information from psychological evaluations, social work assessments, individual history, structured tools, and direct clinical observations to recommend interventions.
- Providing indirect behavior services to individuals through assisting their interdisciplinary team in day-to-day problem solving.
- Serving as a consultant to other staff in developing effective programming.
- Developing and directing implementation of operational plans pertinent to mental health to ensure the establishment of appropriate goals and the development of action steps to achieve those goals.
The essential purpose of this position is to evaluate the needs of those participants with severe mental illness that are in assisted living facilities to ensure they are receiving the support they need, they are living in the appropriate setting, and their mental health is being addressed.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Master Social Worker: Master's degree in social work.
Certified Master Social Worker: Master's degree in social work and two years of Master Social Worker experience.
Certification as a Master Social Worker by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is required in accordance with Neb. Rev. Stat. § 38-2128.

Preferred: Any combination of training and/or work experience that will enable the incumbent to possess the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A current license to practice as a Clinical Social Worker in Nebraska and one year of relevant experience, as applicable for clinical program with assigned patients; current certification as a Master Social Worker in Nebraska and one year of relevant experience, as applicable for clinical programs with quality oversight.
Hiring Rate
Master Social Worker: $26.440
Certified Master Social Worker: $28.421
Knowledge of: theories and methods of psychosocial assessment; social systems, family systems, systems theory, and social institutions; the cause of social problem areas and their impact on individuals, families, and communities, as applicable; State and federal laws and regulations affecting social, legal, and health services; crisis intervention theories and techniques; professional terminology as related to therapy, psychology, and human services.
