Job Duties

The Division of Disease Prevention is responsible for statewide surveillance, prevention, testing, and treatment of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, and viral hepatitis. This position supports the division’s mission to reduce disease transmission, address social determinants of health, and improve health outcomes
for impacted populations. Come be a part of our team!

This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the CDC­RFA­PS­24­0047­High­Impact HIV
Prevention and Surveillance Programs for Health Departments for year period ending
May 31, 2028. The availability of funding is scheduled for review May 31, 2026 and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.

The Virginia Department of Health offers 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, vision and life

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of program planning, research, evaluation, and quality control methods.
• Experience providing technical assistance related to program development and analysis.
• Experience in conducting research, including data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
• Ability to interpret and implement data collection and reporting requirements.
• Experience leading complex research or related projects.
• Ability to develop reports, manage electronic data, and create effective data visualizations.
• Skilled in presenting information clearly and effectively.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written, to provide leadership, set priorities, facilitate collaboration, and effectively convey information to others.
