Senior Mechanical Engineer
Jane StreetAbout the role
About the Position
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to help us design, build, and refine our global offices. You’ll work alongside a team of designers to contribute ideas and innovative solutions on a variety of projects. There are certain things that have to get done within the scope of this role (e.g., thoughtful design work, project management, site work, closeout) but what really makes our work special is the way we do it.
From an engineering perspective, our goal is to deliver comfortable, reliable, and maintainable facilities. Every project must consider the features and systems that are essential for Jane Street to function, such as connectivity and resilience. We consider our nimble approach to problem-solving to be one of our greatest strengths — while other companies have stacks of procedures outlining how things have always been done, we look for the best solution to the challenge in front of us.
The merits of a solution always take priority. If you can think of a way to solve a problem or do something better, from procuring a specific kind of material to adding creative incentives into vendor contracts, we want to hear it.
We have a special sense of pride over these projects because we get to work in the spaces we build. Every day is an exercise in creating environments to help our colleagues do their best work. We execute at a high level and you will have room to grow your skills, try new things, and really make this job your own. Your ideas and solutions will make the team stronger.
