But instead, you're working in a non-descript cubical, staring at a computer screen without an airplane in sight! It's time to break out of that cubical and get up close & personal with aircraft everyday!

This an exciting opportunity to join the Installation Design and Certification Group working plane side at our Aircraft Certification Center at the Cedar Rapids, Iowa Airport. We are looking for an experienced, senior level Electrical Engineer to support aircraft systems level design of Supplemental Type Certificates (STC’s) for advanced systems installations.  This position will be part of a multi-functional team comprised of Systems, Electrical and Mechanical engineers working on aircraft level integration and certification of our next generation avionics, supporting our business, commercial and military aircraft operators and customers.

This is an onsite position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Relocation assistance may be available.

What YOU will do:

  • You will participate in the design and integration of aircraft systems rigs, equipment rigs and harnesses for specialized testing.
  • You will monitor and report the status of aircraft installations, systems rigs, equipment rigs or harnesses design milestone status to management and project management team.
  • You will not have direct reports, but will direct work activities for supporting technicians, design drafting and project support staff.
  • You will collaborate with internal and external customers, peer engineers and leadership.

Qualifications YOU must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in design or installation of design and integration of aircraft avionic systems by working with the respective business unit systems engineering team and the certification team to define the aircraft level installation architecture and details required to meet the approved certification basis
  • Experience in design or installation and integration of aircraft systems rigs, equipment rigs and harnesses for specialized testing.
  • Identifying, documenting, and communicating significant design and integration risks for timely review and resolution.
  • Experience in wiring diagrams, harness assemblies, schematics, and installation drawings to assure compliance with FAA regulatory requirements.

Qualifications WE prefer:

  • Experience with Auto-Cad.
  • Familiarity with Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and Supplements.
  • Experience in creating electrical load analysis
