The Environmental Operations Manager is responsible for supporting and maintaining the environmental operations for the Disney Cruise Line fleet and private islands.
This role is based in Celebration, Florida
This position will report to the Senior Manager, Environmental Operations.
You Will:
Support shipboard Environmental Officers and Island Environmental Managers and shoreside personnel for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company procedures.
Ensures DCL vessels have the vital information and guidance to meet the requirements of international (e.g., MARPOL), national (Port State and Flag State), regional/local (e.g., ECAs, special areas, ports, etc.), and internal SMS policies.
Manages recreational water facility operations for the fleet and islands, including technical projects to meet public health and safety standards.
Sails regularly to provide Aquatic Facility Operator training to onboard teams and handles the required training schedule for crew.
Leads coordinating and scheduling vendors to support shipboard operations and projects
Responsible to perform hazardous waste determinations for each new chemical request and approves submissions as part of the company’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS) workflow submittal
Responsible for the fleet and islands' day-to-day waste management service needs, including dry waste, USDA-regulated recycling streams, oily waste, and hazardous waste.
Supports new building and Dry Dock projects and start-up operations by providing expertise in environmental-related matters as well as coordination with authorities on compliance issues.
Liaisons with port agents for environmental operations for future itineraries’
Provides Environmental Officer coverage onboard when needed.
Conducts vessel assessments across the fleet verifying compliance with all applicable environmental and technical public health requirements
Monitors that all of Disney Cruise Line® environmental policies and Location Operating Guidelines (LOGs), are being followed
Develops environmental policy amendments to SMS policy, procedures and LOGs as advised and sends to the Manager of Environmental Operations for approval before it is submitted for implementation in the SMS
Manages Environmental Officer learning plans and training requirements are being completed and all record keeping is maintained
Responsible for the development and updating of internal Environmental trainings for the fleet and islands.
Leads projects, as advised, which may include projects covering Marine and Technical areas
Reviews fleet voyage plans for environmental operational compliance, working closely with the Nautical Manager.
Partners with Walt Disney World Environmental Affairs and Environmental Integration to maintain positive relationships and leverage the Walt Disney World organization whenever possible.
Works closely with the Environmental Compliance team
Participates in the Disney Cruise Line® shore Environmental Committee
Safety Management System (SMS) Responsibilities:
Implementation of the general safety management responsibilities in SMS.
Responsible for implementing Safety Management System policies and procedures relative to areas of responsibilities
Assists in the development of marine, technical, and safety amendments to SMS policy and procedures for approval
Assists and keeps the Manager of Environmental Operations informed of ongoing and planned matters relevant to issues and materials in the SMS
You Will Have:
Strong communication, presentation, training, and facilitation skills
Knowledge of international, regional, and national maritime environmental laws and regulations such as MARPOL and U.S Federal Environmental Regulations.
Strong understanding of United States Publ
