Job Description Summary

As an Account Executive, you’ll be responsible for building and cultivating relationships with key national accounts in both small group and mid-market segments for the Group Health business. In addition to relationship management, you may also have the opportunity to drive personal sales production with your accounts, serving as the primary point of contact for assigned agencies and ensuring a high-level of attention and strategic engagement.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Serves as the relationship manager for assigned accounts, developing a deep understanding of the account’s needs and strategies in support of the broader Group Health sales team.

  • Owns the planning process for small market and mid-market accounts and drives field activity to sales offices.

  • Leads personal sales production efforts on key national accounts for specific firms.

  • Builds relationships with key partners at assigned accounts, providing a high level of attention, engagement, education, and service to each account.

  • Shapes and executes market strategies for large national accounts, influencing company reputation, market positioning, and growth strategies.

  • Shares account intelligence with internal partners to improve sales outcomes and maximize agency engagement.

  • Attends conferences and visits account offices to promote relationships and identify opportunities to build our brand across the industry.

  • Conducts trainings and in-person business reviews.

  • Mentors sales associates to ensure client needs are met or exceeded.

  • Meets or exceeds production targets, relationship management KPIs, and overall business objectives for assigned accounts.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships:  Reports to Associate Vice President. May lead a small team of individual contributors.

Typical Skills and Experiences: 

Education: Undergraduate degree in business, sales, marketing, or related field preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Life and Health license required or must have the ability to acquire within 60 days of hire.

Experience: Typically, eight to 10 years of experience with at least five years in the group health or self-funded insurance industry. Significant experience working with national agencies, managing relationships and selling insurance.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Must have comprehensive knowledge of products, services and processes of business unit. Must have strong social skills, sophisticated relationship development and organizational navigation skills. Excellent verbal presentation, written communication skills and facilitation skills are necessary for interacting with the senior level partners. Ability to lead large and complex projects and influence without authority to achieve results. Highly adept at creative problem-solving, having difficult conversations and negotiating to find the best alternatives to address the client and NF’s needs.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
