Position Description

As a Database Administrator, you will play a vital role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and automation processes that support our databases across the various product lines offered by CivicPlus. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) Engineers, QA professionals, and Security Analysts, to optimize the performance and scalability, and security of our Database Systems.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (master's preferred).
• 1-2 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong background in relational database systems such as MySQL, SQL Server, and Postgres.
• Strong SQL scripting and query optimization skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
• You adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

As a Database Administrator you will:        

play a vital role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and automation processes that support our databases across the various different product lines offered by CivicPlus. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) Engineers, QA (Quality Assurance) professionals, and Security Analysts, to optimize the performance and scalability, and security of our Database Systems.

This position will require participating in a 24X7 on-call rotation

Database Management:

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of high-performance database systems.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize database configurations for optimal efficiency and reliability.
• Perform regular backups, data integrity checks, and disaster recovery planning.

Database Security:

• Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data.
• Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).

Performance Tuning:

• Identify and address bottlenecks and inefficiencies in database systems.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and improve application performance.

Data Modeling:

• Design and implement database schemas, tables, and relationships to meet business requirements.
• Maintain data dictionaries and documentation for database structures.

Capacity Planning:

• Forecast future database storage and processing needs.
• Scale database systems to accommodate growing data volumes and user loads.

Automation and Scripting:

• Develop and maintain scripts for routine database tasks and automation of administrative processes.

Disaster Recovery:

• Create and manage disaster recovery plans and procedures.
• Conduct regular backups and test recovery processes to ensure data integrity.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, System Reliability Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and IT (Information Technology) support, to resolve database-related issues.
