Job Description

 

Turner & Townsend are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solar Planner/Project Controls Consultant to join our team. The role is for an experienced planner that also possesses cost engineering knowledge.

The Planner/Project Controls Consultant will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful planning, monitoring, and controlling of projects to achieve desired outcomes.

You will collaborate with project teams and stakeholders, providing expert guidance on project control methodologies, tools, and processes.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in project management, possesses exceptional analytical skills, and has a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Role based in Houston, required to work from the office 3 times a week.
  • The role is for an experienced planner that also possesses cost engineering knowledge.
  • Experience in solar PV sector required, experience in wind projects a plus
  • Monitor and report project overall status on cost and schedule – progress and performance reports as comparing with deterministic target and probabilistic target; tracking schedule milestones, areas of concerns and action items; project manpower FTEs.
  • Conducts Schedule Assurance Review for engineering and third party schedules.
  • Validates engineering and construction contractors' schedules to ensure compliance with the clients expectations and advises the project team on best practices related to network scheduling, what-if analysis, and critical path management.
  • Builds level 1-4 schedules integrating third party schedules with owners activities.
  • Conduct Interactive Activity planning meetings with the different team disciplines with a focus on solving issues and identifying areas and opportunities for schedule improvement.
  • Builds and maintain a master portfolio schedule as needed.
  • Validates resource loading for Engineering and Construction activities.
  • Integrates Estimate information with Schedule (e.g. resource loading) to support investment decisions, reporting, benchmarking, and lookback activities.
  • Works closely with Engineering and Construction contractors and Client project teams.
  • Set up appropriate Work breakdown structure for the project.
  • Produces cost reports gathering data from the client's system, from finance and working with the Project manager.
  • Administer management of change, including budget transfers, allowance and contingency drawdown and trend logs.
  • Work with Procurement, Estimating & Project Management to estimate changes and resolve claims.
  • Support business planning processes and reporting.
  • Support the development of data analytics and benchmarking activities.
  • Ensure the cost reporting project to stakeholders in timely manner.

Qualifications

 

Required Education/Experience:

 

  • 4 year accredited  bachelor's degree required
  • 7-10 years of scheduling/planning or related experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in Solar Power required.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6.
  • Experience in schedule and cost management.
  • Require project experience.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interface with varied audiences ranging from technical design professionals to field construction contractors.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Wind industry experience.
  • Industry benchmarking experience.
  • Progress measurement, project cost management of change, contingency management, forecasting.
