Health Sciences | Government Resource CenterThe Business Operations Consultant at The Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC) partners with internal and external stakeholders and provides support for daily business operations at the GRC including the fiscal management of departmental resources and external sponsor funds. The Business Operations Consultant serves as an organizational liaison between GRC, College of Medicine, Office of Sponsored Programs, and external sponsors, with a strong understanding of fiscal processes, financial reporting and compliance. This position assists leadership with the planning, development, and execution of short‑ and long‑term strategic initiatives that advance GRC goals and objectives. This position will work closely with the Finance Director and Director of Partnerships to ensure streamlined award application and pre-award processes. This position will provide oversight to multiple complex grants and subawards. This person will develop process improvement activities and documentation of processes and procedures. This position may serve in lead or supervisory capacity of 1-2 other GRC Business Operations Staff.
Collaborates with GRC Finance members to develop and implement processes to improve organizational performance. Cultivates working relationships with project teams that support efficient fiscal management of sponsor funds and overall GRC business operations. Reviews legal contracts and data use agreements and work with OSU staff as needed to ensure compliance with sponsor, university, and federal guidelines.
Develops fiscal reports utilizing existing knowledge of grants and fiscal processes. May serve as the backup to the Finance Director for Workday support. May propose or formulate guidelines and processes that support efficient business operations and ensure alignment with the GRC mission, vision and its strategic goals.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience is required.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of six years of relevant experience in grants or fiscal administration is required, four with a graduate degree. Requires successful completion of a background check. The selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
Additional Desired Qualifications
Organizational skills and strong attention to detail. Experience with Workday processes, fiscal reporting, budget development, grants management, review and analysis of contracts, data use agreements, subcontracts and other legal documents is preferred. Considerable knowledge of federal, state and university regulations and policies is preferred.
