What You Will Achieve

ROLE SUMMARY

  • This position is for a testing analyst in the Kalamazoo QO API Liquid Chromatography Laboratory working on first shift.  

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Works effectively in a fast-paced, customer-oriented, team laboratory environment to analyze raw material and API samples, in direct support of the company's production units.  Independently performs testing and documents results for qualitative or quantitative assays on samples using techniques that vary from use of standard laboratory equipment to highly modern and automated instrumentation.  Troubleshoots test methods and analytical equipment.  Conducts peer review (record checking) of laboratory data packets. Writes equipment qualification protocols and reports as needed.  Executes method validation activities as needed.  Updates SOPs and test methods.  Writes reports as needed.

  • Coordinates and leads projects that have unit impact.  Proactively seeks out opportunities for improvement and acts on them with some direction.

  • Serve as a key resource and potentially lead lower-level team members within your area of expertise.

  • Manage personal time and professional development, taking accountability for your results and prioritizing workflow.

  • Contribute to project and departmental tasks, providing direction and training to team members, and may act as a lead worker.

  • Be recognized as a "LEAD" or "Subject Matter Expert" in your field.

  • Proactively identify and resolve basic complexity problems, considering wider implications.

  • Complete assignments independently, selecting appropriate methods, and ensuring team assignments are completed.

  • Adhere to Pfizer standards, guidelines, and values, influencing teams, and contributing to the development of departmental standards and guidelines.

  • Provide input for performance assessments, ensure timely and compliant documentation, and develop processes to enhance cGMP standards.

  • Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping, participate in Continuous Improvement projects, and ensure adherence to all policies and procedures, while providing training and conducting peer reviews.

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)

  • High School Diploma or GED and 6+ years of experience
  • Associate's degree in chemistry, Biochemistry or related field and 4+ years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Biochemistry or related field and 2+ years of experience.
  • Ability to write clear technical documents
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and procedures
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)

  • HPLC or GC experience

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Laboratory and office work requiring walking, standing, and sitting throughout a shift.  Lifting of items less than 25 kg.  

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

This position requires colleagues to work weekends and/or holidays as needed, to meet business or customer needs.  All Laboratory colleagues adhere to safe work practices such as wearing appropriate personal protective equipment including lab coat, safety glasses, and gloves.   There is no routine travel associated with this position.
