Pharmacokinetics & Drug Metabolism – Mass Spectrometry and Metabolomics - Senior Scientist
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be a part of the department of pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism (PKDM) within Amgen Research. This group is dedicated to the discovery and development of novel, effective, and safe medicines.
The Sr. Scientist will also implement bioanalytical methods for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of various molecular modalities (antibody-drug conjugates, small molecules, lipids, oligonucleotides, peptides, proteins, etc.) in plasma, tissues, and other biological matrices in support of the development of Amgen’s innovative pipeline.
This role requires an excellent understanding of state-of-the-art bioanalytical techniques and an individual that can work collaboratively in a fast-paced flexible work environment. This position is primarily lab-based, necessitating most of the work to be conducted on site.
Responsibilities
Develop targeted and un-targeted metabolomics and lipidomics approaches to support biomarker discovery and mechanism of action investigations.
Employ bioinformatics analysis of complex datasets to interpret and visualize data and effectively communicate results to cross-functional teams.
Develop and perform quantitative LCMS assays for various molecular modalities.
Be able to troubleshoot independently when instrument or assay problems arise.
Other responsibilities will include basic biochemistry research, electronic laboratory notebook keeping and communication of results to project teams.
What we expect of you
We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The dynamic professional we seek is a scientist with these qualifications.

Master’s degree and 3 years of the relevant experience OR
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of the relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated track record of successfully developing or implementing LCMS methods for metabolomics and lipidomics is strongly preferred.
Experience conducting metabolic flux analysis using stable isotope tracing to probe metabolic pathway activity is desirable.
Fluency in Python and/or R, as well as the relevant techniques required for statistical analysis, data processing and visualization.
Hands on experience in sample preparation (biological processing, tissue homogenization, immunoaffinity capture, enzymatic digestion, SPE etc.) and experience with automated platforms (AssayMAP Bravo, Tecan etc.).
Hands on experience in various HPLC, CE, and Mass Spec instruments is preferred, such as high-flow LC, micro-flow LC, nanoflow LC, QQQ, ToF, Orbitrap, etc.
What you can expect from us
As we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being. From our competitive benefits to our collaborative culture, we’ll support your journey every step of the way.
