SUMMARY

The Engineering Division of Charlotte Water (CLTWater) is seeking an Engineering
Project Coordinator (EPC) within the Rehabilitation and Operations Support Group
(ROSG). CLTWater’s ROSG team is responsible for managing projects that support the maintenance and rehabilitation of the existing water and wastewater treatment facilities.

The EPC will be responsible for coordinating tasks associated with the planning, design, and construction of a mix of rehabilitation and small to mid-sized capital projects implemented in CLTWater facilities each year. These facilities include 7 wastewater treatment plants, 3 water treatment plants, and 78 wastewater lift stations in addition to approximately 9,051 miles of water distribution piping and wastewater conveyance

Salary - $82,834.58 - $92,037.42/year - Commensurate with experience

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • · Assist senior project management in working with engineering design consultants and CLTWater Operations and Maintenance Divisions to deliver high quality, successful projects in a timely manner.

  • · Coordinate and manage specific tasks during various stages of a project (planning, design, contractor procurement, construction, and project closeout).

  • · Plan, prioritize, and complete many concurrent assignments with minimal

  • supervision.

  • · Collaborate with other EPCs and staff members in a dynamic role to assist senior project management within ROSG.

  • · Review plans and specifications for accuracy and conformance to project goals.

  • · Review construction record drawings.

  • · Perform occasional field engineering and periodic construction inspection.

  • · Interact and communicate with a diverse workforce both internal and external to CLTWater.

  • · Resolve construction conflicts and respond to inquiries of CLTWater’s Operations and Maintenance staff with regards to ROSG’s designs and construction activities.

  • · Perform other related job duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field from an accredited school.

  • One (1) year of utility planning experience demonstrating responsibility for the coordination of tasks in civil engineering or municipal capital improvement projects.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:

  • Requires valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred certification as an Engineering Intern (EI or EIT) or equivalent credentials in the field of specialty (or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • · Knowledge in related engineering and construction management including project design and planning.

  • · Basic understanding of construction contracts.

  • · Basic knowledge of construction plans and specifications.

  • · Skill in communications, both orally and in writing.

  • · Skill in applying conflict resolution techniques.

  • · Skill with Microsoft Office products, such as Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.

  • · Ability to develop technical reports.

  • · Ability to work cooperatively with other City employees and the public.

  • · Basic knowledge of construction project scheduling methods.
