Position Summary:

The Patient Engagement Manager is responsible for listening to and counseling patients and medical professionals, interpreting their specific needs and providing friendly, professional and well-informed answers to their questions. This position will work with patients, physician offices, partners and insurance companies to case manage all steps required to gain access to therapy.  

Work Model: 

Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.

Responsibilities:

1.  Works closely with patient/family to case manage all steps required to gain access to therapy. 
2. Educate patient/family on reimbursement options. 
3. Acts as a liaison with medical offices. 
4. Work with Specialty Pharmacy and insurance companies to obtain reimbursement requirements information. 
5. Perform benefit investigations with insurance companies as required. 
6. Responsible for maintaining case history for all assigned patients in the CRM system. 
7. Provide back-up coverage for other Patient Engagement Managers (PEMs). 
8. Travel to required meetings and medical offices as necessary. 

Requirements:

1. 5 years of prior case management experience preferred. 
2. Ability to travel 20%. 
3. Prior reimbursement experience with ability to communicate complex reimbursement scenarios to patients and medical professionals preferred. 
4. Ability to problem solve complex reimbursement scenarios and recommend solutions. 
5. BA/BS in the life sciences or communications preferred. 
6. Ability to maintain composure and remain professional during difficult patient or medical calls. 
7. Individual must possess and portray strong emotional resilience. 
8. Ability to multitask, problem- solve and work independently. 
9. Individual must possess extraordinary positive attitude, exceptional listening skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills. 
10. Ability to handle sensitive information.

This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.
