We are recruiting for a mission-driven Coordinator, RN Nursing Clinical Placement to join our team!
The Nursing Clinical Placement Coordinator manages student placements across Denver Health ensuring alignment with clinical learning objectives and organizational capacity. This includes collaborating with nursing units, academic partners, and internal stakeholders to secure appropriate placement opportunities, resolve placement barriers, and enhance the overall student and faculty experience. This role plays a vital part in strengthening Denver Health's academic partnerships while supporting pipelines for future healthcare professionals. This position is based within the Nursing Education department and reports to the Nursing Education Manager. The Nursing Clinical Placement Coordinator adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of professional nursing and performance, and the ANA Code of Ethics (2015) to provide care to all patients. Utilizes the Theory of Human Caring and Caritas in daily practice. "Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, Founder / Director, Watson Caring Science Institute."

Essential Functions:
- Ensure clinical placements support both student learning outcomes and the operational readiness of clinical areas/units. Coordinate and oversee student clinical placements across Denver Health in collaboration with clinical area/unit leaders and academic institutions. Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities to expand placement capacity and enhance student engagement. Support strategic education initiatives that promote academic-practice alignment and workforce pipeline development. (20%)
- Ensure clinical placements are following regulatory and accrediting body requirements relevant to nursing education. Honor academic program autonomy by allowing nursing schools to determine appropriate placement levels for their students based on curriculum design and student readiness, avoiding bias or personal clinical judgment when assigning placements. (20%)
- Development: Foster a collaborative environment that supports effective interprofessional communication, shared decision-making, and mutual respect between academic and internal teams. Support resolution of student or faculty issues related to performance, behavior, or scope in collaboration with academic and clinical leadership. Provide onboarding and orientation processes for students and faculty to ensure alignment with Denver Health policies and standards. Conduct regular rounding on nursing students, faculty, and clinical units to assess learning environments, address concerns, and provide on-site support. (25%)
- Partnership: Serve as the primary point of contact for nursing schools, maintaining effective communication and strong partnerships with faculty and placement coordinators. Represent Denver Health by attending community clinical placement meetings and program advisory meetings to foster collaboration and stay informed on regional academic-practice initiatives. Demonstrate high standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders. (15%)
- Metrics & Records: Maintain accurate placement records and generate reports related to student activity, experience quality, and partnership performance. Utilize clinical placement software systems to manage, track, and coordinate student placements efficiently. Provide data reports and metrics to support departmental goals and broader nursing division outcomes, including workforce pipeline development, partnership engagement, and student satisfaction. Apply critical thinking and sound judgment to assess clinical placement needs, resolve conflicts, and recommend solutions that support quality educational outcomes. Maintain Clinical Learning Agreements (CLAs) with the Office of Education and academic partners, ensuring agreements remain in compliance with Denver Health requirements. (20%)
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree BSN Required or
- Master's Degree Nursing preferred
Work Experience:
- 1-3 years clinical nursing experience in a healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of patient care and clinical operations. Required and
- 1-3 years experience in roles such as nursing education, academic partnerships, staff development, or clinical placement coordination. Experience in related areas such as training, curriculum development, or healthcare project management Required
