The Huntsman Mental Health Institute and the Adult Psychiatry Division in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine are looking for dedicated and motivated full-time Outpatient Adult Psychiatrists to join its faculty. We are seeking qualified professionals to help us meet the challenges of providing high-quality psychiatric services in a market with growing mental health care needs. The Huntsman Mental Health Institute (as part of University of Utah Health) is relied upon by our local and regional communities to improve overall health and quality of life. We do this by maintaining a commitment to outstanding patient care, the highest standard of training for medical students and residents, and continued expansion of our pioneering research programs.

Successful candidates will play an important role in the Department of Psychiatry, providing outpatient clinical services for the University of Utah’s Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) in a number of satellite outpatient clinics along the Wasatch Front. They will be part of a supportive team, and the faculty appointment and rank will be based on academic experience and professional accomplishments.

The University of Utah is located in the capital city, Salt Lake City – one of the most beautiful cities in the world, surrounded by mountains, with world-class skiing, hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking. The city is vibrant, with theater, arts, sports, opera, orchestra, ballet, and nightlife. The area has received international recognition for its light rail system, downtown, library system, and increasing diversity. Our Health System is the major referral center for a 5-state region. The Wall Street Journal ranked the University of Utah #8 in the nation for best public universities, with research funding surpassing $780M.

Qualifications:
Applicants should hold or be eligible to apply for a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Utah and have expertise in adult outpatient psychiatry. Completion of a residency in Psychiatry is required. The candidate must be board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry. Obtaining board certification is a requirement for retention.

Responsibilities:
Clinical care:
Use excellent clinical skills in psychiatry to serve the mental health needs of the outpatient clientele; Show a strong commitment to clinical care; Call is an expected clinical responsibility for all faculty members. Provide cross coverage for vacations and meetings. Specific assignments will be coordinated through the Adult Psychiatry Division Chief.

Investigation:
Engage in scholarly activities; Develop durable materials (papers, courses, presentations, posters, games) based on scholarly activities.

Education:
Engage in patient care activities with learners. (Residents, medical students, and fellows, and trainees from other disciplines); Serve as medical student and resident mentor; Teaching/supervising medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees during psychiatric clinical rotations

Administration:
Administrative duties associated with clinical care provided; Administrative service to the Department of Psychiatry, the School of Medicine and the health system, including peer review and participation on committees; Report to and be reviewed annually by the Division Chief as part of School of Medicine faculty appointment.

The percentage of effort spent in clinical, education, investigation, and administrative activities will be negotiated annually. Specific assignments will be coordinated through the Adult Psychiatry Division Chief.
