Description
A Brief OverviewThe Clinical Application Analyst I functions as a team member responsible for assisting in providing application(s) configuration support to enhance department's operational efficiencies, patient safety, and departmental workflow needs.
What You Will Do- Participates in needs assessment, software design, implementation, support, and reporting.
- Assists with data collection from clinical subject matter experts, to facilitate design which will represent an improved clinical workflow.
- Assists with the design of clinical workflow in conjunction with the clinicians; workflows will focus on improved efficiencies, as well as incorporating quality initiatives.
- Participates in change management activities to support successful system deployments and enhancements.
- Participates in unit and integrated testing of the software to ensure that the design objectives are met.
- Assists with the development of end-user training materials and supports training efforts.
- Assists other team members in ensuring good documentation standards.
- Provides input into escalation of issues with appropriate internal resources.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures in collaboration with clinicians, other team members, and IT Application manager.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of system documentation.
- Troubleshoots issues with vendor assistance, to resolution
- Supports/troubleshoots Hospital Information Systems inbound/outbound interfaces as appropriate.
- Creates reports as needed and works problem tickets.
- Works with other application analysts to insure system integrations.
- Utilizes and maintains appropriate change control procedures and standards.
- Prepares detailed flowcharts/diagrams to assist with design decisions and problem analysis.
- Performs on-call duties as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
Work Experience
- 1+ years Experience working with clinical applications such as: • Laboratory systems (CoPath, Soft Lab, HCLL Blood Bank) • Radiology systems • PACs • OTTR • Pharmacy systems (Management, dispensing) • Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manager • Perioperative systems (Picis) • Cardiology systems (HeartLab) • Home Health systems • Emergency Department systems • Ambulatory EMR systems • Document Management systems (Required) and
- Clinical experience and workflow redesign experience. (Preferred)
- Pharmacy operations experience (Strongly Preferred)
- Epic Willow knowledge (Strongly Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Good written and verbal communication skills. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to work in a team environment. (Required proficiency)
- Understanding of JCAHO and HIPAA requirements necessary. (Required proficiency)
- Knowledge of MS Office. (Required proficiency)
- Knowledge of change control procedures and standards. (Preferred proficiency)
- Knowledge of MS Visio and Project. (Preferred proficiency)
- Knowledge of LAN, DNS, and networking. (Preferred proficiency)
