Pay Grade: Greenville ISD Compensation Plan
Reports to: Superintendent
Position Overview
Greenville ISD is seeking a collaborative and student-focused leader to serve as Director of Special Programs. This position provides oversight of districtwide student services and specialized academic programs to ensure all students are supported academically, behaviorally, and socially.
Primary Purpose
Direct and manage the district's special programs to promote student success and well-being. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and policies while supporting campuses in meeting the diverse needs of all students.
Qualifications
Education / Certification:
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Principal or Mid-Management certification preferred
- T-TESS appraiser certification preferred
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Knowledge of student services programs, including counseling, discipline, attendance, and student support systems
- Knowledge of federal and state laws related to student services and Section 504
- Ability to oversee the following program areas:
- Advanced Academic programs
- Visual and Performing Arts
- Career and Technical Education (CTE)
- Robotics programs
- Destination Imagination
- Ability to analyze data and use results to improve programs
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage budgets, personnel, and multiple programs effectively
Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years of classroom teaching experience
- Minimum three (3) years of campus or district leadership experience
- Experience in student services or program leadership preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Program Leadership & Oversight
- Direct and oversee student services programs across the district
- Provide leadership for Advanced Academics, Visual and Performing Arts, CTE, Robotics, and Destination Imagination programs
- Monitor program effectiveness and implement improvements based on data
- Support campuses in implementing programs that promote student success
Student Services
- Oversee counseling and guidance services to support student academic and social-emotional needs
- Support campuses with student discipline systems and behavior interventions
- Monitor attendance and implement strategies to improve student engagement
- Ensure compliance with Section 504 and other student support requirements
- Coordinate district response to student-related crises as needed
Compliance & Procedures
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and policies
- Maintain required records and submit reports in a timely manner
- Interpret and communicate policies related to student services and programs
Financial & Program Management
- Assist in developing and managing budgets for student services and assigned programs
- Allocate resources effectively to meet district and campus needs
Collaboration & Support
- Work collaboratively with campus administrators and district leaders
- Provide guidance, training, and support to staff on student services and program implementation
- Assist campuses in meeting district and campus improvement goals
Communication & Community Relations
- Maintain open communication with staff, students, parents, and community members
