This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for an Engineering Package Manager to support our New York, NY office. We will also consider the following locations: Boston, MA, Buffalo, NY, New Haven, CT, Newark, NJ and Syracuse, NY. Your Impact
- Effective leadership in a matrix organization.
- Serve as an EPC package manager on a large transmission development program, from the award of the EPC contract to the commissioning and in-service date.
- Perform selected project management duties for the duration of the project.
- Manage an EPC contractor for the duration of the project.
- Track and report the EPC contractor’s progress.
- Track and report the EPC cost.
- Track and report the EPC schedule.
- Coordinate the requirements with the Transmission Operators, owners of the remote substations.
- Manage the interfaces with other parts of the project, such as permitting, transmission lines, underground infrastructure group, procurement, geotechnical, properties, system studies etc.
- Track and provide input to the schedule.
- Prepare and review cost estimates.
- Manage the responses to RFIs.
- Manage the review of the EPC engineering submittals.
- Manage the review of the major equipment submittals.
- Organize preparation of outage plans.
- Maintain regular communications with the client including reporting on monthly status, safety incidents, and major issues together with scope and budget impacts.
- Organize and chair regular meetings with the EPC contractor.
- Participate and respond to daily queries from the internal groups.
- Some regional travel is anticipated
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm.
- 15+ years of experience in Project Management with 10 years of large-scale utility or infrastructure project management experience
- Able to work in a self-directed environment
- Excellent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Project Management Professional certification
- Competence in analytical techniques in tackling technical problems with some complexity
- Advanced proficiency with interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively, persuasively, and tactfully with leadership, subcontractors, and employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific project deliverables, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, subcontractors, consultants, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exits.
- Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Advanced proficiency with critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $130,300 - $281,600
