The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

 

Responsibilities

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

·       Perform engineering tasks in support of the Flight Avionics engineering group.

·       Candidate will perform engineering work in preparation for assembly, test, processing, and launch of NASA's Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft in support of the Artemis program.

·       Initial assignments will focus on development of the ground application software used during ground processing and vehicle launch. Developing Work Authorization Documents to process, test and launch the SLS Rocket and Orion Spacecraft. 

·       Candidates will be required to apply knowledge of technical principles, vehicle processing operations concepts, ground to vehicle interfaces, and vehicle/ground system design and operation. Additional responsibilities in system training, vehicle processing, and launch certification will follow. 

·       Candidate will be expected to accomplish testing & operations independently, and act as Task Team Leader for assignments involving Avionics related teams.

·       Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Shift work is expected as Avionics engineering periodically supports 24h processing.

·       Perform other related duties as assigned.

The candidate must possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience.

Job Requirements

·       Aircraft / Spacecraft / Launch Vehicle processing background a plus.

·       Launch console experience a plus.

·       Software development (C++) a plus.

·       If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.

 

Physical Requirements

·       May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
