Dow has an exciting opportunity for a R&D/TS&D Test Lab Technician in Lake Jackson, TX.

Job Summary:


In this role, you will provide basic technical support to Lead Scientists and Technologist Leaders in the preparation and execution of testing for experimental studies, application development or customer samples.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works as part of a team in a testing laboratory supporting chemists and engineers in evaluating developmental products, commercial products or customer samples.
  • Prepares for and independently performs standard and some non-routine procedures using relevant equipment and instruments. Activities include sample preparations, equipment setup and/or configurations, and proper handling and disposal of waste materials that may be generated.
  • Safely executes laboratory work requests, manages sample queue and coordinates prioritization with TS&D Leader and Lead Technologist when conflicts or exception requests arise.
  • Accurately and reliably records data and observations using proper tools. e.g. laboratory notebook and LIMS. Promptly reports results/observations that deviate from expectations to the sample requestor. Recognizes the value and protection of Dow intellectual assets.
  • Acts responsible for calibration, safe operation, and routine maintenance of simple and moderately complex instruments or machinery. Troubleshoots faulty equipment or initiates repair processes as appropriate.
  • Documents procedures and identifies disconnects with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Utilizes Management of Change (MOC) process to implement new procedures, updates or changes.
  • Promptly and effectively communicates issues to Technology Leader or lead scientists in order to enable or accelerate problem resolution.
  • Actively participate in work group team meetings to address safety, process improvement, problem solving, and other work group, department, and functional topics.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an Associates degree or 4 years or more of military training/experience is required
  • 3 or more years of relevant work experience in the chemical or manufacturing industry
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

      Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

      • Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes
