Your day at NTT DATA

The Director, Global Payroll oversees the global payroll function for NTT Global Data Centers. Responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the payroll process, ensuring the accurate, compliant, and timely disbursement of wages for all employees. A key partner in developing and implementing strategies and best practices to systematically scale the payroll operations and related systems while maintaining quality, accuracy, internal controls and compliance. Collaborates with various departments to improve policies and procedures, streamline processes and act as the expert in all Payroll related matters.

What you'll be doing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads a team of domestic and international payroll team members responsible for payroll processing including earnings, commissions, bonuses, taxes, benefit deductions, and garnishments.
  • Develops and executes a strategic plan to scale and optimize global payroll administration that can support new and existing payrolls in various regions and countries.
  • Actively partners and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure business objectives and priorities are executed effectively.
  • Designs and implements policy and internal controls to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing compliant with US and international government regulations.
  • Conducts payroll audits, ensuring data integrity, overall payroll accuracy and compliance with US and international government regulations and Company policies.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, rules, regulations and laws at the local, state and federal level. Stays abreast of regulatory and policy changes.
  • Partners with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance and adherence to Company policies and procedures.
  • Research and implement Payroll system and process improvements to reduce error, increase efficiency, and ensure alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Identifies and provides solutions for potential payroll issues, implementing process changes and/or additional training as a preventive measure for future errors.
  • Reviews and/or creates all communications regarding Payroll and Timekeeping activities.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality, ensuring security of the Payroll system, reports and other documentation.
  • Effectively manages a team, their resources, development, and overall performance.
  • Provides direction and supervises team through effective coaching and performance management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrates subject matter expertise with implementing and enhancing Payroll systems, policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of data privacy laws, including CPRA, GDPR, etc.
  • Possess business acumen and understanding of strategic processes.
  • Ability to think critically, problem solve, and take an analytical approach to work with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain open-minded and self-confident with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proven and effective leadership skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of international, federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations for each jurisdiction where employees work and reside, including excellent understanding of Wage and Hour laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with peer leaders and individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively translate payroll concepts for a lay audience and to proactively inform, influence and educate executives, cross-functional stakeholders and team members.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be highly confidential.
  • Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field or equivalent education and/or work experience.
  • Requires at least 10 years of progressive experience overseeing multi-state and multi-country HR processes for both exempt and non-exempt workforces. Experience in EMEA, APAC, India and the Unites States required.
