Job Description:

The foundational funding and strategic premise of the BH Workforce unit was to co-create the program and policy infrastructure of the Behavioral Health Workforce Incentive (BHWI) Team which was created through House Bill 2949 (2021). BHWI is a transformative, community-led, and community-owned initiative to increase the recruitment and retention of providers in the behavioral health care workforce who are people of color, tribal members, or residents of rural areas in this state, in order to provide culturally responsive care for diverse communities.

The expressed intent of HB 2949 is to:

1. Ensure a more diverse behavioral health workforce in Oregon, and

2. Expand access to services for rural and other underserved communities.
