Portal Mines - Underground Construction Maintenance Technician (Tech 4 or Higher)

Responsibilities:

Reporting to an Underground Maintenance Supervisor, the Underground Construction Technician is responsible for the following;

• Safely operate equipment
• Work in an Underground production zone
• Clean and Maintain Underground Sumps
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Ability to identify wrench and socket sizes use drills impacts and grinders Required  
• Ability to troubleshoot and replace all pumps and lines  Required
• Basic fabrication skills including welding and cutting, brazing, arc welding, and air arc Preferred
• Ability to identify parts needed for repairs by make, model, size, and type required
• Ability to figure concrete yardage, set forms and finish concrete Required
• Basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics and the ability to apply those skills to troubleshoot and repair systems Preferred
• Identify basic rigging tools (slings, shackles, softeners) Required 
• Ability to read and use precision measuring tools, torque wrenches, and hand tools Preferred
• Basic operation of forklift, skidsteer, Spraymec, transmixer, haul truck, loader, and scissor deck  Preferred 
• Knowledge and ability to install hardline and vent bag and ability to install and remove auxiliary fans Preferred  
• Excellent safety and attendance record Required
• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job Required
