Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting the Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer for a radar ground system with an emphasis on a new operational system.

The successful candidate will have broad Systems Engineering lifecycle knowledge, the ability to manage changes and present options for managing scope and dependencies to the technical and management teams in concise briefings.  This role is expected to operate independently with little oversight in a dynamic environment and to be highly self-motivated.

The ideal candidate is a leader who is experienced leading other Integrated Product Team (IPT) leads and who excels in keeping the program management and the customer informed.

This position may be located at either our Morrisville North Carolina or Aurora Colorado locations. (Compensation varies per location)

If business allows, this position could have the potential of a hybrid work schedule allowing 1-2 days a week working remotely and 3-4 days a week working onsite at the Northrop Grumman facility

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance at the time of application [US citizenship is required]

  • Must have the ability to successfully complete a polygraph

  • Must have a completed STEM degree with below years of experience in systems engineering [a degree in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics]

    • 12 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's (STEM)

    • 10 Years of relevant experience with a completed Masters's (STEM)

    • 8 Years of relevant experience with a completed PhD (STEM)

  • Must have experience on all of the below:

    • Experienced in leading large, geographically dispersed teams

    • Experienced in building teams

    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

    • Experience with Agile development

    • Experience with effectively managing, communicating, and presenting technical roadmaps and technical subjects to project and program management, other technical managers, and customers

    • Experience managing technical dependencies across teams

    • Experienced leading a software team

    • Experience with SW solutions running in C2S or AWS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Favorably adjudicated polygraph

  • Familiarity with space vehicle ground segment design

  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) languages (SysML/UML) and concepts

  • Familiarity with Cameo

  • Experience with Cloud technologies

  • Experience with requirements verification

  • Accomplished leader with proven leadership and communication skills

  • Experience as a Chief Engineer/ Deputy Chief Engineer or Chief Architect / Deputy Chief Architect

  • Experience with mission management, tasking and scheduling, and/or mission processing
