The Role
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to lead strategic transaction origination and execution, supporting CCR’s strategic goals and energy transition initiatives. This person will be a pivotal member of CCR’s Corporate Development team and a visible leader across the organization, helping to create and drive strategic opportunities in coordination with CCR’s Development, M&A, and Executive Teams.
This person will sit at the leading edge of multiple facets of the clean energy industry, rapidly develop a deep well of knowledge and industry contacts, earn competitive pay, manage and mentor a group of highly talented teammates and serve as an influential leader within one of the nation’s most active solar and storage developers. While this person’s primary focus will be corporate-level strategic transactions, they may also lead or support single project or portfolio-level M&A transactions.
The location for this role is in a Cypress Creek Office – San Francisco, NYC, or Washington, D.C. where colleagues work on a hybrid in-office/work from home schedule (in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Exact title will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate strategic initiatives, including potential acquisitions, divestitures, merger of equals, and capital raise transactions
- Lead screening efforts for potential strategic transactions, coordinate market intelligence collection, and present findings to Executive Team on a routine basis
- Manage strategic transaction processes from end-to-end, including valuation, risk analysis, synergy identification, bid/sale recommendation, transaction structuring, negotiations, documentation and closing
- Drive transaction model development and valuation, including merger models, and create sensitivity scenarios
- Assist M&A and Development Teams to identify and evaluate project, portfolio and platform acquisition targets through renewable energy sector, with a focus on solar and battery storage
- Collaborate cross-functionally on diligence workstreams, including but not limited to development, legal, structured finance & tax
- Support development of long-term relationships with financial advisors, capital markets participants, and industry peers
- Identify and manage external subject matter experts, consultants and advisors to support transaction objectives
- Champion opportunities through approval processes, including Investment Committee and Board
- Lead market intelligence efforts and prepare quarterly updates on industry themes, trends and competitive intelligence
Desired Qualifications and Experiences
- BA/BS degree (MBA or other quantitative graduate degrees welcome)
- 4-6 years of relevant finance experience required (preferably in the renewable energy industry); investment banking, principal investing and/or corporate M&A experience is strongly preferred
- In-depth understanding of renewable energy project financing concepts, including tax equity
- Solid transaction execution and negotiation experience, with ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results under tight deadlines
- Quantitative background with strong financial analysis and modeling skills
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability
- Ability to work well with multiple teams cross-functionally and in offices across the U.S.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Unimpeachable ethics & integrity
- Leadership ability and a passion for providing mentorship, guidance and training to junior colleagues on the team
