Spatial Transcriptomics Post Doctorate Scientist (Crop Science)
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Spatial Transcriptomics Post Doctorate Scientist (Crop Science), are:
- Establishes and optimizes RNA sequencing protocols for spatial transcriptomics applications in Crop Science use cases;
- Designs controlled experiments in collaboration with cross-functional internal and external partners/stakeholders and coordinates their implementation to enable project success;
- Analyzes transcriptomics results for quality assessment and evaluation of experimental success. Works with dedicated computational colleagues to explore in-depth data analyses;
- Understands and anticipates broader project/team interests, and identifies, proposes, and performs complementary analyses to enrich insights from multiple modalities/data layers;
- Demonstrates commitment to inclusion and safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices;
- Maintains detailed record keeping and required documentation;
- Thrives on meeting challenges, insists on high quality deliverables, demonstrates effective problem-solving skills, and possesses the ability to build productive external and internal relationships;
- Conducts complex activities that require specialized knowledge and the broad application of scientific principles;
- Takes initiative in keeping current with literature in areas of assignment and in areas of professional interest.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE (Leadership Integrity Flexibility Efficiency) values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. (defended by 6/30/24) in a biological/biomedical, molecular or cell biology, genetics/genomics, computational field or similar area;
- Experience with next generation sequencing library preparation;
- Familiarity with next generation sequencing data analysis with emphasis on transcriptomics analysis;
- Familiarity with innovative or emerging fields of study.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Library preparation for cell-based resolution transcriptomics techniques (such as single cell RNA sequencing or spatial transcriptomics experiments);
- Experience with agricultural specimens (plant, insect and/or fungi tissue);
- Familiarity with spatial transcriptomics or other Omics technologies;
- Experience utilizing genomic technologies/transcriptomics or next generation sequencing;
- Experience collaborating across multiple teams, fostering a team-based approach to research, and leveraging partnerships;
- Experience clearly communicating project plans and experimental results with partners and stakeholders and maintaining alignment on objectives and priorities.
Position will be located in Chesterfield, Missouri (St. Louis area).
Domestic relocation may be available for this role.

The employment type for this role is limited and has a duration not to exceed 24 months.
Position may include opportunity to work up to 20% remote.
