The Clinical Support Specialist II plays a vital role within the Department of Pathology & Immunology, providing comprehensive support for accessioning and processing cases across various specialized areas, including surgical pathology, clinical genomics, cytogenetics, and molecular oncology. This position requires meticulous attention to detail and an understanding of clinical processes to ensure accurate and efficient handling of patient specimens and associated data. This position is located adjacent to a clinical lab setting with no direct patient contact. The role is in person and requires participation in a Saturday rotation schedule.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides customer support for clients, faculty and staff in a friendly and helpful manner while providing a positive, professional, courteous and empathetic understanding to all customers.
- Exhibits high quality performance through accuracy, attention to detail and commitment in a timely manner.
- Accepts and electronically receives laboratory specimens for all sections of the laboratory, including registering patients into medical record and laboratory information systems.
- Oversees the procurement of materials from outside institutions in support of clinical testing performed by laboratories.
- Prepares and sends materials to reference laboratories in support of clinical testing not provided internally.
- Effectively troubleshoots errors and problems in order to ensure pre-analytic accuracy in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of insurance industry. Performs insurance verification for testing to ensure accurate and timely payment for services. Calls insurance companies for precertification when required.
- Effectively prioritizes workload to ensure completion of duties within stated expectations.
- Fulfills client requests as needed.
- Assists with additional projects as needed.

$17.34 - $25.40 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
