Monday through Friday, weekend and on call coverage as needed
Major Responsibilities:
Assures high quality radiographs are submitted by technologists to ensure optimal diagnostic information is available to radiologists for accurate and complete patient diagnosis
1)Evaluates films and makes recommendations for improvement, needed changes in technique and/or positioning
2)Monitors equipment failures; trouble shoots and repairs minor equipment failures; determines need for supportive service calls; contacts appropriate personnel and/or service representatives; maintains communication with service personnel to keep abreast of equipment downtime status; coordinates needed preventive maintenance repairs, and makes schedule adjustments as necessary.
Coordinates technologists and supporting personnel with regard to schedules, work assignments, and quality improvement standards
1)Prepares technologist work schedules and approves any requested changes according to department staffing, and/or personal needs with regard to week-ends, holidays, vacations, etc.
2)Prepares transportation and dark room staff work schedules, and approves any requested changes according to department staffing, and/or personal needs with regard to week ends, holidays, vacations, etc.
3)Responsible for adjustments to staffing assignments in the event of unscheduled staff shortages; determines need for float pool personnel utilization, as well as the need for overtime approval; maintains contact with the Radiology Manager regarding staffing conditions and any adjustments necessary
4)Provides verification of Time and Attendance records to maintain complete and accurate employee records
5)Coordinates and oversees training of new employees according to department orientation policies; responsible for evaluation and/or verification of employee competency; participates in formal and informal training programs given to staff; instructs and demonstrates specific techniques, positioning and equipment use
6)Counsels, disciplines, and reviews employees with approval of Radiology Manager; incumbent signs off as the immediate supervisor of employees within this work setting
7)Attends monthly Department Leadership Meetings, and provides input regarding department operations
Coordinates patient flow through the department to ensure maximum work output with the least amount of patient waiting time
1)Coordinates daily technologist room assignments
2)Coordinates patient flow through appropriate room assignments to maximize staff and equipment utilization
3)Coordinates inpatient transportation requests with nursing units, other ancillary departments, and radiology transportation staff
4)Coordinates scheduling needs for emergency add-on procedures in order to minimize the waiting times of previously scheduled outpatients while also attempting to offer priority scheduling to emergency patients
5)Coordinates and interviews outpatients for outpatient myelography procedures for outside physicians
6)Prepares and submits incident reports as needed to ensure continuous safety and quality patient care standards according to department and hospital policies and procedures; participates in formal and informal staff training and education regarding continuous safety and quality patient care
7)Works closely with Centralized Scheduling Department to determine appropriateness of exam scheduling; provides approval for add-on exams; answers questions regarding patient preps, possible allergies, explanation of procedures, and/or exam scheduling conflicts
8)Provides liaison among technical and ancillary staff, radiologists, house physicians and their office staffs, ancillary and surgical departments, nursing units, department and hospital administrators
9)Performs venipuncture for IVP and nephrotomogram exams using appropriate sterile technique, universal precautions, and aseptic procedures; assists physician as necessary during contrast media reaction treatment; completes necessary Contrast Media Reaction Form in an appropriate and detailed manner according to department policy; updates any
