The Small Business Credit & Portfolio Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing a team of professionals including Underwriters, Credit Analysts, Portfolio Managers, and Lending Assistants. This role ensures the effective execution of lending activities, risk management, and client servicing within the Small Business Lending segment. The Manager will drive performance, support strategic initiatives, and serve as a key liaison across business lines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Team Leadership & Oversight
◦ Manage and coach Small Business Lending employees across underwriting, credit analysis, portfolio management, and lending assistant functions.
◦ Conduct performance evaluations, training, and development plans.
◦ Resolve escalated issues and ensure high-quality service delivery.
2. Operational Management
◦ Oversee administrative tasks supporting Small Business Lending operations.
◦ Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
◦ Monitor and enforce servicing requirements across loan portfolios.
3. Strategic & Project Engagement
◦ Act as a subject matter expert and business line liaison for cross-functional projects.
◦ Represent the Small Business Lending team in strategic initiatives and stakeholder meetings.
◦ Contribute to process improvement and system enhancement efforts.
4. Reporting & Analytics
◦ Prepare and deliver business line reporting, including performance metrics and risk assessments.
◦ Analyze trends in client behavior and initiate credit reviews as needed.
5. Compliance with any and all BSA/AML/CFT and Sanctions requirements set forth by Bank Policy and Procedure, including but not limited to timely completion of assigned training.
SECONDARY DUTIES
The position performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The position is responsible for the supervision of all office employees and is expected to provide leadership, training and support to staff members.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The incumbent is in a non-confined office setting in which they are free to move about at will. In the course of performing the duties and responsibilities of this position spends time writing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), sitting, typing on a computer keyboard, and standing, kneeling and reaching.
The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, copy and fax machine, adding machine, computer and related printers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
These specifications are guidelines based on the minimum experience required to perform the essential functions of the job. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field (MBA or CFA preferred).
• Minimum 6 years of experience in commercial or business banking.
• Proven leadership experience in managing credit and lending operations.
• Experience, knowledge, and training in financial statement and tax return analysis typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or related areas.
• Experience, knowledge, and training in lending activities and terminology.
• Knowledge of related state and federal lending and compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies.
• Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in credit analysis tools and financial modeling.
