Mission

 

Reeves Construction Company is seeking an experienced individual for the position of Roller Operator in Savannah, GA. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively run a roller for the compaction of asphalt and/or dirt and other materials for road and commercial construction. Roller Operators are also expected to assist in the general operation of each job site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Include, but not limited to:

 

• Must have a basic knowledge of the mechanics and hydraulics of the machine.
• Must have skills to conduct an inspection checklist on equipment such as tracks, lights, brakes, fuel, oil and water.
• Must keep equipment clean, lubricated, and in good working order, including good housekeeping.
• Must have an understanding of control levers for movement of the machine.
• Must have a priority for safety and welfare of workers around the machine.
• Must have the ability to operate the vehicle safely in job site situations and follow the policies and procedures of the company.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
 

 

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Must be able to climb onto and up and down a machine several times a day.
• Must be able to sit in a machine and operate it for several hours without stopping.
