Mechanical Engineer Intern (Summer)

We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer Intern (Summer) to contribute building and testing electromechanical components for our robot system.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the engineering team to design, prototype, and validate advanced actuators for humanoid robots
Work on electromagnetics and mechatronic systems, including modeling, simulation, and hands-on experimentation
Assist in developing test setups and procedures for performance characterization (force, speed, efficiency, etc.)
Document design processes, test plans, and results to support iterative improvements
Contribute to cross-functional discussions about component integration, reliability, and scalability
Qualifications
Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) program in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on electromagnetics
Experience
Course projects or extracurricular work involving actuator design, mechatronic systems, or electromagnetic studies
Previous lab or internship experience in related fields is a plus
Technical Skills
Familiarity with electromagnetic principles, coil winding, and motor/generator fundamentals
Basic competence in CAD or simulation software for mechatronic assemblies (e.g., OnShape, SolidWorks, MATLAB/Simulink)
Hands-on prototyping experience (e.g., soldering, wiring, 3D printing, machining)
Programming skills in C/C++ or Python for automation and data analysis
Understanding of control systems (e.g., PID, feedback loops) for actuators
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical mindset
Clear communication of technical concepts both verbally and in writing
Effective time management and a collaborative spirit
Adaptability and eagerness to tackle new challenges in a startup environment
Nice-to-Haves
Experience in designing custom electromagnetic actuators or motors
Proficiency with advanced simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS Maxwell, COMSOL)
Participation in robotics or engineering competitions related to mechatronics
