Job Description

Team:

The ServiceNow Cloud database provisioning team builds CLI software to safely operate the database in every host and every datacenter. The APIs delivered by this team plays a key role in all database management functions.

We design and deliver software for our ServiceNow internal customers. Our code is used by all ServiceNow support teams and by most of the automations running across ServiceNow datacenter. Ease of use, quality, scale, and customer feedback are pillars of our development processes.  We work in a very collaborative environment with distributed teams that empowers and enables you to succeed in your role. 

What you get to do in this role:   

• Design software for operating PostgreSQL databases in production that is simple to use and integrates at scale. 
• Work with stakeholders to understand detailed requirements. 
• Build high-quality, clean, scalable, and reusable code by enforcing best practices around software engineering architecture, testing, and processes (Code Reviews, Unit testing, etc.)
• Work with a team that owns the technological choices and their code from design, implementation, test automation, and delivery of high-quality features.
• Work in an environment with a strong collaboration and knowledge-sharing spirit.
• Work in an international team with colleagues in Europe and USA. 

To be successful in this role you have:

• Experience with data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance/scale considerations
• Database management experience, particularly with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, or Oracle.
• Good problem-solving skills, root cause analysis of issues in production. 
• Experience in these languages & tools: Ruby, Puppet, Jenkins.
• Experience with CI/CD systems: Jenkins, TeamCity, etc.
• Your brain runs Linux. 
• Comfortable working in multiple time zones (PT, ET, CET)
• Good communication, networking, and self-management skills.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience with backend development
• Experience in Linux: CentOS, RedHat, etc.
• Some experience with: Ruby, Puppet, Python, or Go.
• Database experience, particularly with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, or Oracle.

For positions in California (outside of the Bay Area), we offer a base pay of $136,800 - $239,400, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
