This is the entry-level, hourly position to aid the Capital Asset Manager. Works on project coordination, data analysis, reporting, data compilation, and maintenance, website creation, and form development under the supervision of staff. This is a technical position requiring knowledge of computer system operations, data base systems, and computer-aided drafting.About the Position:
The Capital Asset Management Assistant is an entry-level position that supports the Capital Asset Manager with project coordination, data analysis, reporting, and system maintenance. Responsibilities include optimizing Power BI reports, coding and debugging applications, managing internal webpages, and creating data visualizations. This role requires technical skills in computer systems, databases, and computer-aided drafting, along with the ability to quickly learn new technologies and assist with various projects.
About the Team:
The Public Services Administrative Services Division provides leadership, project support, strategy, and vision to the department while establishing transparent processes and standards for solutions that serve the public and enhance City assets. Applicants for roles within the Administrative Services Division can expect to play a pivotal role in centralized support while they back the five other divisions across Public Services. Applicants may not be in a public-facing role, but their work will have a direct impact on how the department’s services are delivered to the public and our internal customers.
Position Hourly Range:
$24.47 - $30.30/hr based on qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities
Audit and optimize existing Power BI reports and dashboards, addressing broken links and ensuring data accuracy.
Using current programming languages and technologies, you will write code, perform application testing and debugging, and create documentation and procedures.
Demonstrate an ability to quickly adapt and learn new technologies to keep up with evolving requirements. Also demonstrate an eagerness to utilize AI-driven solutions for continuous learning and skill development to excel in their role.
Assist in managing small scale special projects and coordinate data efforts for asset management software under the supervision of the Capital Asset Manager.
Maintain organized internal pages for Capital efforts.
Create visually compelling data visualizations and charts using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or others to effectively communicate complex data insights to various stakeholders, enabling data-driven decision-making.
Develop system for project submissions and tracking along with research to support ongoing projects.
Aid with front desk duties as needed.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalency, including course work in trigonometry and/or algebra, and two years of experience in one or more of the following areas: computer-aided design and drafting, GIS, surveying or computer data entry. Two years post-high school training in civil engineering, computer science, GIS, surveying or a related field may be substituted for two years' work experience.
Ability to operate computers and basic familiarity with AutoCAD and ArcView. Familiarity with basic surveying methods and techniques.
Ability to work well with co-workers, supervisors, other agencies and the general public under a variety of circumstances.
Possession of a valid Utah driver's license or driving privilege card and ability to work unconventional hours and overtime when required.
Working Conditions:
Frequent exposure to computer terminals for extended periods. Light physical effort. Comfortable working conditions, handling of light weights, intermittent sitting, standing and walking. Occasional driving to field sites.
Intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.
