Transactional Attorney/ Commercial Counsel

We are looking for an energetic and self-starting Attorney to join our legal team at Motional.  You will be part of a collaborative, innovative legal team, working on projects that will change the future of mobility.  We are a collegial and hardworking team.  We provide top notch legal services to our business partners as we work to make driverless vehicles a safe, reliable, and accessible reality.  You must be a team player and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.  To be successful in this role, you should be proactive, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively.  

In this role, you will provide legal support to various business stakeholders on a variety of cutting-edge legal issues.  You will work cross-functionally with Motional’s Procurement, Operations, Product, and Engineering teams to drive our corporate and commercial transactions, while also developing strategic business relationships with vendors. 

The candidate selected for this role will be a crucial hire to our Legal team and will have room for significant growth as our business expands. This role will report directly to Motional’s General Counsel.

What you'll be doing:

• Collaborate with the Legal team and cross-functional business teams across Motional to strategize, draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial and technology agreements in support of both day-to-day business and strategic commercial transactions.
• Stay current on applicable laws, rules, regulations, regulatory guidance, and industry codes, especially concerning AV law.
• Advise on a wide variety of matters, including technology development agreements, supply agreements for goods and services, software licenses, and business partnership agreements.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements to support our global procurement organization here at Motional.
  
  

What we're looking for:

• Juris Doctor with a current license to practice in Pennsylvania or MassachusettsMinimum of 3+ years experience in commercial contracting and providing legal counsel in aspects of the commercial transaction process including reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements.
• Experience handling commercial contract disputes (familiarity with supply chain matters is a plus).Experience providing legal support and eagerness to partner with various business functions, including but not limited to human resources, benefits, finance, and corporate strategy.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both engineers and outside counsel.Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with internal clients and colleagues.
• Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability and willingness to work across time zones.Comfortable with occasional travel.
• Self-motivated; able to work both independently and with others to utilize their resources and knowledge to identify high quality solutions.
• Experience with autonomous vehicles, vehicle fleets, or on-demand mobility or delivery platforms is a plus.Working knowledge of privacy, cybersecurity is a plus.
  
  

Hybrid: This role is hybrid from our Pittsburgh office. It requires two in-office days each week, ideally Tuesday and Thursday.
