About the role

Job OverviewThe OEM (original equipment manufacturer) Sales Associate will serve as the main point of contact for our business-to-business customers in the heavy duty truck and trailer parts industry. The role will provide support throughout the sales process, including placing orders, answering customer questions, and ensuring completion of orders. The role requires significant over-the-phone relationship development, account management, and prospecting to support our overall goal of sustained year-over-year growth.Responsibilities and DutiesSales and Business Development
  • Sell goods and services to accounts and prospects to support the overall goal of sustained growth.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with our current customers in the assigned territory / market segment.
  • Conduct frequent inbound and outbound phone calls to current and prospective customers.
  • Identify and target potential clients within the OEM market.
  • Cultivate long-term relationships with key decision-makers at client companies.
  • Maintain and grow an existing customer base by identifying new sales opportunities.
  • Provide regular reports on sales performance, forecast trends and market analysis.
  • Work closely with internal teams to align stratgies and drive sales initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Category and Vendor Managers, Supply Chain and Distribution to prepare for unique demand/orders.
Product Knowledge and Consultation
  • Provide technical advice and product recommendations to customers, ensuring they select the appropriate OEM products for their needs.
  • Informing customers of any new products that could potentially be a good fit for them or identical replacements for products that are not available.
  • Stay on top of industry and product trends and cycles to identify potential opportunities for company growth.
  • Grow technical knowledge of parts and products essential to the heavy-duty vehicle aftermarket.
  • Use of catalogs and parts manuals to identify and sell heavy duty truck and trailer parts.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows and seminars to network and stay updated on industry trends.
Customer Service
  • Answering customer questions about the prices, availability and features of the products we sell.
  • Generate clean and concise quotations and proposals for our customers.
  • Handle customer concerns by getting to the root of the problem and providing the appropriate solution.
  • Work closely with management and the OEM sales team to ensure superior customer service.
  • Oversee and manage orders and delivery schedules of parts and materials to align with customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, opportunities and customer information.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, business, management or related field OR 2-4 years of relevant experience in sales or customer service required.
  • Previous experience at a dealership, distributor, manufacturer or heavy-duty truck and trailer parts preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Mechanical aptitude is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively navigate various computer programs and processes.
  • Strong understanding of OEM products and market.
  • Communicate clearly, appropriately, and concisely in verbal and written formats.
  • Provide outstanding, friendly, and professional customer service.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and customer-focused mindset.
  • Efficiently and successfully handle multiple priorities at once.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift/carry 5 lbs. frequently.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 25 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. infrequently.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
