We are looking for a Senior Data Protection Analyst based in Chicago

 

Your Team  

You will be part of the Legal Operations team working closely with the Head of Digital Law and Data Privacy, North America, where you will focus on compliance and legal issues around data privacy law, document retention requirements, technology law, and data protection regulation as it affects the insurance industry.    
 

The Impact You Will Have  

The Senior Data Protection Analyst reports to the Head of North America Legal Operations & US State Affairs and works closely with and is guided on a day-to-day basis by. the Head of Digital Law & Data Protection, North America.  The key function of this area is to drive the core operational management of Data Protection within Allianz Commercial North American. 

The Senior Data Protection Specialist will provide support, guidance, and advice to Allianz Commercial management, various global functions, and Allianz Commercial employees in relation to relevant data protection topics with technical and/or operational impact.  Special focus will be on compliance with North American data security and privacy requirements.

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Driving and managing responses to data privacy-related inquiries from consumers or regulators, Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA), and records of data processing within Allianz Commercial.
  • Ensuring that data protection-related inquiries are handled appropriately and supporting the business in understanding various data protection-related processes and/or controls.
  • Developing, maintaining, and improving, together with the North American Head of Digital Law and Data Protection, the Allianz Commercial data protection monitoring and document management system.
  • Preparing and maintaining relevant compliance and data protection progress reporting to regulators and Allianz Commercial's Board of Management (e.g., internal or external audits, compliance reviews, risk assessments, etc.).
  • Ensuring that regular review processes for compliance with North American data protection laws, standards, functional rules, and guiding principles are followed in line with internal requirements, including, but not limited to, ensuring consistency of formats and approvals by the respective internal committees if necessary.
  • Developing functional guidance on selected data protection topics affecting Allianz Commercial and its business worldwide, such as the PIA processes, consumer inquiries, or data breach investigation/response processes.
  • Organizing and developing data protection-related content for privacy trainings for Allianz Commercial employees and management.
  • Building in-house knowledge on Allianz Commercial's IT processes and organization, including Allianz shared service providers.

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • A minimum of 3 years of Legal Department experience in the insurance industry;
  • Strong corporate and/or regulatory compliance experience;
  • Experience managing the relationship between various compliance teams and support team activities Product filings;
  • Ability to perform compliance related investigatory work, in case of breaches of regulatory requirements, customer complaints, or insider dealings;
  • Ability to develop and maintain appropriate privacy compliance and regulatory monitoring programs, managing escalation of matters;
  • Experience developing the basic quality standards for the legal department;
  • Ability to apply data protection rules and standards in daily business and knowledge of data protection policies;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Ability to build and foster relationships across the organization;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to think critically and apply judgement to find solutions; and
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or similar field of study; and
  • Paralegal, Compliance, or Privacy Certification preferred.

 

The annualized base pay range for this role is $77,795 - $133,436. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range.
