Responsibilities

Minimum salary for this position is $6,375.  The University of Michigan-Flint invites applications for a part-time faculty position at the Lecturer I level for the period of August 25 through December 13, 2025.  The position requires teaching a 3-credit hour undergraduate course,

IES 335 - Families, Communities and Partners. This course takes an ecological perspective toward understanding structural and cultural diversity within families. Exploration of the child in the family and community; how the notion of “place” intersects with individuals, families and the larger community; the impact “place” has on teaching and learning via field-based experience. Strategies to effectively communicate and collaborate with families in their children’s education; current legislation and issues affecting families and children; overview of resources available in the community.

The course meets in-person on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8:15 PM (this cannot change). The budget for this position is for the fall 2025 term only.

Required Qualifications

Prospective candidates should minimally possess a master’s degree in early childhood or similar or have experience as a family liaison or similar. Graduate work must have been completed within an accredited program. Evidence of relevant teaching experience is required.

Desired Qualifications

Ph.D. in early childhood or similar.

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence.  Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.
