Assistant Instructional Professor - Physical Education

The Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation (HHPR) at Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for a tenure-track (9-month) Assistant Professor position. Applicants must possess or be pursuing a terminal degree and have K-12 Physical Education teaching experience. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to both undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as the ability and desire to develop a scholarly research program that actively involves graduate and undergraduate students.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses, including Motor Development, Physical Education Methods, other courses related to the B.S. in Education degree, and supervise activities courses.
• Develop and maintain a scholarly research program involving both graduate and undergraduate students
• Mentor students and support their academic and professional growth
• Actively engage in professional organizations
• Contribute service to the college and community
• Foster student success and promote a positive learning environment

Education and Experience

Required Education and Experience – Time of Hire

• Master’s Degree in Physical Education or closely related field 
• Teaching Experience in K-12 Physical Education 

Preferred Education and Experience – 

• Ph.D./Ed.D. (in progress) in Physical Education or closely related field
• Experience in teaching pedagogy courses in Physical Education and First Aid/CPR Certification
