Job Overview:

The Coupang Corner Stone team in application infrastructure organization, takes charge of company-wide transaction data storage and common data service layer to materialize e-commerce data for a low latency reading.  The team owns the common data service which is at the core of e-commerce business to connect vertical business data and front-end data consumers. It ingests data from various data storages, processes within minutes in parallel and saves in persistent storage for customer facing front-end to consume.We are looking for software development engineers with large data processing and data materialization experience. As a Staff Engineer, you are the tech leader in the team taking charge of system design, implementation, service optimization and daily operation.   Key responsibilities:

• Hand on the system and new feature design, implementation, testing and release of Common data service and Storage system.
• Dive deep into the system and fix complex technical problems.
• Participate in the daily system operation to address system issues and answer the customer questions.
• Identify the system reliability and performance issue and propose solutions applying best industry practice.
• Collaborate with other Coupang tech teams to make the service extensible to support business growth
• Advocate engineer excellence and operation excellence with the team

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has

• 8+ years professional software development experience, or 6 years of experience with an advanced degree.
• At least 6 years of experience working in backend systems with a focus on Java
• At least 4 years of experience working in data technologies - SQL and NoSQL
• Proven experience on delivering mission critical projects at large scale
• Practical experience with IaC (preferably Terraform) and CI/CD
• Experience with cloud computing - one or more of AWS/Azure/GCP

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in server-side web app frameworks such as SpringBoot
• Experience with shift left methodologies focusing on high quality and faster time to market
• Deep understanding of modern web application architectures and design patterns that lead to high performance and scale
• Deep appreciation for metrics and observability with undeterred focus on raising the bar for the quality of services
• Tenacity to dive deep into complex issues, identifying root causes and resolving them

 

Pay & Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.

The base pay for this position ranges from $153,09/year in our lowest geographic market to $284,310/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors, including market location, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
