Mohave County Public Health-Nutrition & Health Division is seeking to hire a Cook.

 We are located at 450 Acoma Blvd South, Lake Havasu City, AZ.

Pay Rate: Range 6/Step 8 $18.45 per hour

Examples of duties

  • Prepares and serves meals which include any or all the following: main dishes, vegetables, lunch items, and baked goods.
  • Preparation and serving of foods are in accordance with established procedures and practices of food preparation, safe food handling, food temperatures, freezing, thawing, food portioning tools and controls, and storage and delivery.
  • Oversees assigned personnel in the preparation of meals in accordance with established procedures, to include, but not limited to: proper use of kitchen appliances including using food processors, meat slicers , knives, ovens, rolling pins, steamers, fryers, and related appliances in a safe, secure manner; proper methods and procedures in preparing, cooking, serving, delivering, and storing foods; and proper cleaning procedures of kitchen facilities, equipment, utensils, and appliances.
  • Determines proper amounts of food and baked goods to prepare based on menus and meal head counts.
  • Oversee the packaging of home delivered meals to ensure portion control, temperature control, and accuracy for meal delivery routes.
  • Serves and oversees the serving of meals.
  • Inspect kitchen appliances and equipment for cleanliness and malfunctions.
  • Verifies of appropriate temperatures of appliances are correct daily.
  • Advise higher level of authority if repairs are required.
  • Cleans, maintains and services required equipment, appliances and tools used during performance of work assignments and maintains a clean, safe working environment.
  • Utilizes menus from WACOG in the delivery of services. May develop menus as needed.
  • Overseas and/or performs inventories of food stock and supplies and determines quantities of food and supplies required.
  • Compiles order forms and requisitions food and supplies from vendors, shopping for quality and cost effectiveness. Ensures orders are within budgetary guidelines.
  • Receives delivery of order and verifies for completeness and quality.
  • Maintains kitchen logs and reporting forms in accordance with grant requirements and food handling techniques.
  • Create and maintain a supportive work environment with other departments and community programs, Public Health divisions, and Public Health leadership on accreditation domain while maintaining a culture of quality improvement.
  • Apply basic principles, practices, techniques, teaching, and communication methods related to the age, gender, race/ethnicity, educational level and socioeconomic status of community members.
