The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department cares for a specific patient population who has neurogenerative and musculoskeletal diseases. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide professional nursing care to patients of the Neurological Institute. You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring care plans, administering medications and treatments, coordinating discharge plans and communicating patient conditions. A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Assess health status by completing a nursing assessment. 

  • Perform telephone triage. 

  • Notify physician/LIP of abnormal findings. 

  • Establish a care plan in collaboration with the patient, family and health care team.

  • Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care.

  • Assist with specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. 

  • Assist with specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical department and medical specialty assigned. 

  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician/LIP and monitors patients for response. 

  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.

  • Cover other nursing roles within the department

  • Provide health education to patients and families. 

  • Develop, evaluate, adapt and documents education to learning needs. 

  • Assist in preparation of the department specific education for patients and colleagues. 

  • Facilitate smooth operation of the ambulatory areas.

  • Participate in quality initiatives, process improvements and research activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience and patient safety. 

  • May require travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures in various locations.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program) 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)

  • One year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through Ameri
