About the role
Technique is looking for a 2nd Shift Brake Press Technician to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. Reporting to the Forming and Bending Supervisor, this full-time, non-exempt position is responsible for developing parts from start to finish using standard and custom tooling to bend parts into desired shapes. The Brake Press Technician will use sophisticated software to visualize bends and program CNC press brakes, ensuring all parts are produced to print on the 2nd Shift schedule of Monday–Thursday, 3:30 pm–2:00 am.
The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience with stamping equipment or metal forming, a solid understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading, and the mechanical aptitude to set up and troubleshoot hydraulic presses and TRUMPF TruBend machines. Strong math skills, basic CAD/SolidWorks ability, and proficiency with precision measuring instruments—including a Romer laser arm—are key to success in this role.

We specialize in high-speed prototypes, ultra-low volume stampings, tubing, and assemblies for production and emergency-based manufacturing.
The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience with stamping equipment or metal forming, a solid understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading, and the mechanical aptitude to set up and troubleshoot hydraulic presses and TRUMPF TruBend machines. Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup & Operation – Set up, troubleshoot, maintain, and operate hydraulic presses and TRUMPF TruBend machines to produce parts to internal and customer specifications.
- Tooling & Adjustments – Change out tools and adjust bends according to punch height and bend radius calculations to ensure quality parts.
- CNC Programming – Change and/or create bend programs in CAD/SolidWorks to support production requirements.
- Troubleshooting – Recognize issues with bends and troubleshoot the forming process to identify and correct root causes.
- Quality Inspection – Check parts using a Romer laser arm and precision measuring equipment to verify conformance to print.
- Preventive Maintenance – Perform routine maintenance on TRUMPF TruBend machines to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
- Workplace Organization – Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company safety and 5S standards.
- Documentation – Complete all required job documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED; vocational training preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience with stamping equipment or metal forming
- Forklift operator’s license preferred
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong mathematical ability and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read blueprints and working understanding of GD&T
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
- Basic CAD and CAM programming ability (SolidWorks experience a plus)
- Good problem-solving skills
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the shift; must be able to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
- Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment that may include fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, vibration, and loud noise levels
